| The Service | Affero's mission is to bring a culture of patronage to the Internet. |

Account Status and Persistence Affero's service uses cookies to enable you to rate others without logging in each time you click an affero rate/donate link. If you choose "Remember me" on your Affero preferences screen or the Affero login screen, the browser that you used on that PARTICULAR MACHINE (when you choose this option) will be enabled with a 6-month login. This will NOT AFFECT other browsers that you may use on other computers. WARNING: by choosing the "Remember me" option, anyone who has access to THAT machine where you clicked "remember me" (and/or the cookie on your machine (if someone takes your cookie;)) can rate another Affero member without entering your password until the 6 month term expires on that cookie. For security reasons, we would advise that you NOT use this option on a public computer as this will enable others to rate members using your identity from that machine.Affero's service also uses cookies to enable you to use the account preferences edit functions for 6 hours without re-logging in. Think about a cookie used this way like a key into your account. Each web browser that you use can have it's own key to affero. When you click the "Remember me" option on an affero page...you are duplicating your key and leaving it on that machine to be used by that browser. If you leave...someone else can take your key. This is not exactly the way it works...but it might help to you to understand it. There is also a back door key that gets created automatically when you log into your account preferences. That key is different than the rate/donate key. What is "Clear my sessions"? If you choose "Clear my sessions", ALL browsers that you have used (including any public browsers) will require that you re log-in to authenticate your identity. When you choose "delete sessions", you will immediately be asked to provide your affero username and password to regain access to your account. What is "De-activate my account"? You also have the option to de-activate your account here. WARNING: Only use the "De-activate my account" option if you choose to stop using affero permanently.
